Copenhagen

Anna and I spent the weekend of November 14-17 in Copenhagen. I had always wanted to visit there, and so had she so we were very excited!! We got there really late at night on Thursday and had to go find the hostel, which was quite an adventure. We wound up taking trains and walking there and it was very confusing and stressful. We got to the hostel, which was very nice, and we only had 1 roommate that first night who seemed very odd but quiet so she worked for me!
The next morning we woke up and had all sorts of plans on what we should do for the day, but we decided to go shopping instead. There were so many stores!! We walked by a shoe store and I was obsessed with some of the boots in there. We’ll get back to that. There was a lego store which of course was a thrill for me and we spent around an hour in there because I was enjoying myself so much. Apparently lego was created in Denmark so not only was it exciting to go to a lego store in general, it was extra exciting because we were at its birthplace. We then wandered over to Nyhavn, which is the canal with the colorful buildings. Aka the classic pic that everyone must take when in Copenhagen. There was a Christmas market going on there so of course we wandered through there for a while, and it was amazing because every stand was handing out their own variation of glogg, aka mulled wine. It was so good!! About 5 free glogg shots in, we went to a booth that was giving out hot chocolate samples. I assumed it had alcohol in it (because everything else did!!) and I said to the guy working “wow I can’t even taste the alcohol!” TO which he responded “good because its non alcoholic”. Embarrassing but oh well hehe.
Once Anna and I were cold enough to make our way to another stop, we walked along the canal and went to these in ground mini trampolines that are right on the sidewalk. It was really funny to see little trampolines right on the street!! We then continued to wander around (and did more shopping- shock), and found a brewery to do some beer tasting at. We then ventured back to the hostel and went out to a club for the night which was called Chateau Motel. It was SO expensive it cost $15 to get in and then each drink was about $13 as well. I texted Sue and she told me that I should’ve brought my own alcohol into the club. She’s always thinking!
The next morning we biked over to this danish breakfast place and had a legit FEAST but damn it was good. It was really fun to bike everywhere because they have bike lanes everywhere so I didn’t have to worry about getting hit by a car.
Back to the shoes from day 1. I couldn’t stop thinking about them, so we had to go back to the store. But of course they didn’t have my size in the shoes I loved. The company doesn’t even make them big enough for my shoe size :( So I’m in there trying to squeeze my foot into this shoe thats about 1.5 sizes too small and convince myself that they fit. But eventually I tried on some other ones and liked those just as much. So then I almost convinced myself to buy both of them… but I decided to call Sue (6 am her time.. sorry), and she was like um absolutely not you can buy one pair. Still spent almost $200 on shoes though so thats great. But I’m wearing them right now and they are very fashionable!!!
So 6 hours later once we left (my b Anna), we went to Tivoli. This is the oldest amusement park (??) and was the inspiration for Disney World! We went on all sorts of rides where I screamed/laughed/cried and Anna just laughed at me. It seemed kind of like Disney in a way, but some of the rides had full county fair vibes. We both enjoyed it though!! It was all decorated for Christmas which was really pretty. There were little market shops everywhere too as well as a huge food hall. We had Mexican (which I have been missing) and damn it was good.
The next day we woke up and went back to Nyhavn to go on a canal cruise. We got to see the little mermaid statue from a far and lots of important buildings. Then we went to Freetown Christiana and wow that was an experience. It is a mini town within Copenhagen that has about 1000 residents, and basically there are no rules.Everyone smokes weed and sells weed/weed related products. There is no photography allowed (mainly because they’re all doing illegal things).  It was quite interesting. We happened to be there during a police raid which was sketchy but also cool to watch. All of the shops that sell weed completely close up when the police come (because weed is still illegal there) but I have no idea what they do with it all! We did see the police leave with about 5 trash bags of drugs which was insane. I guess not everyone is good at hiding it haha.
Once we left we still had time to hit another Christmas market and one of the vendors tried to sell us these hand warmers that stay warm for a long time I guess?? I felt like I was at the mall and was being targeted by one of those kiosks in the middle where they try to sell you anything and everything. Once we got out of that situation we went out to dinner at Vapiano which is apparently an Italian chain restaurant?? It was so good they literally cooked your food right in front of you. We asked for cider at the bar and both got served nonalcoholic apple juice. We drank it for a few sips trying to figure out if there was alcohol in it.. but eventually we flagged down the waiter and she was like no theres no alcohol in that??  We were like no no we want alcoholic cider lady !! It was kind of funny though.
Finally we made it home from our weekend! It was good fun as always but it was nice to come home and see the rest of the gals :) #stayclassy

Milan and Budapest

Who would’ve ever thought I would be flying to Italy on Thanksgiving day! Definitely not me!!   Jamie, Susan, Anna and I headed off from Edinburgh to fly to Milan for the next few days. Spirits were high and pizza was on the mind. On our way to the airport I looked at my Apple Pay receipts which was disturbing because I spent a little too much money out at the club the night before.. hehe oops. So I spent the first part of our flight calculating how much money everyone owed me for the drinks I bought them and wound up feeling a lot better.   We got to our airbnb in Milan pretty late but we were all starving so we had to go find somewhere that was open for us to eat. We found this restaurant and all inhaled pizza. I thought it was the best pizza ever because I was starving! The next morning we woke up and headed over to the Duomo area. We went inside the cathedral which was beautiful and even climbed to the top of it. The view was very cool and we got some bomb ...

Jamie Visits Edinburgh

Just a few days after we returned from Copenhagen, Jamie came to visit me! I was so excited for her to come and stay with me for the whole week of thanksgiving! Poor thing though, her flight got delayed so she didn’t get to me until Saturday afternoon instead of Saturday morning. I went to pick her up at the airport and of course they lost her bag. She was a bit of a mess but I helped her pull it together… you know after she cried for a while <3   That night we brought her out to Finnegans Wake (aka the best bar/our favorite bar in Edinburgh). She was quite a trooper being so tired but still coming out!! She got to have quite a ~real~ experience, as we were bringing her along with us to do everything that we usually do anyway. The next day we went to the Christmas market.   On Monday she got to come to class with me (lucky) and then we went to ASDA, which is basically Scottish Walmart. We were prepping to have a full thanksgiving dinner on Tuesday night so we ...

Arthur's Seat

Hiii guys, So the other day the gals and I set off to climb Arthur's Seat at sunset (so basic, but come on we had to). The 7 of us set off to the bus and arrived at the base of the mountain. For those of you who don't know, Arthur's Seat is a hike to a dormant volcano in Edinburgh, very scenic and famous, and very beautiful. It overlooks the whole city, and it is kind of random to have this huge mountain in a city. So we had heard that if you keep climbing left, you will get on the best path up the mountain. We start, and some of us were leading the pack because we didn't want to miss the sunset. For some reason I was one of the leaders (I really don't love leading groups on activities such as this one, but oh well). We start, keeping with the left turns, and make it up to the top, which was not a very challenging hike by any means. We only had to climb at almost a 90 degree angle a few times (ok yeah that part was hard), but the rest of it wasn't bad!! We made...
