Southern France

Susan and I returned from Budapest on Wednesday, had a few days back in Edinburgh (in which she took a final, I wrote a few papers, we celebrated my birthday, etc), and then we set off to France.   We flew into Marseille, and got in a blablacar (which is basically an uber pool but cheaper), and headed towards Avignon. This is where one of my mom’s friends, Laure, lives and we were going to be staying with her for a few days. It was actually so cool because Sue had studied abroad in Paris and Avignon, and stayed with a host family in Avignon. Laure was the host sister of the family that Sue stayed with in Avignon! It was amazing that they have stayed in touch all these years and that Laure would be happy to have us stay with her at her home for a few days!!   She picked us up from the car meeting point, and this was where we all met for the first time. She brought us back to her house and made us an authentic French meal- ratatouille. Just like the movie!!! Then w...

Milan and Budapest

Who would’ve ever thought I would be flying to Italy on Thanksgiving day! Definitely not me!!   Jamie, Susan, Anna and I headed off from Edinburgh to fly to Milan for the next few days. Spirits were high and pizza was on the mind. On our way to the airport I looked at my Apple Pay receipts which was disturbing because I spent a little too much money out at the club the night before.. hehe oops. So I spent the first part of our flight calculating how much money everyone owed me for the drinks I bought them and wound up feeling a lot better.   We got to our airbnb in Milan pretty late but we were all starving so we had to go find somewhere that was open for us to eat. We found this restaurant and all inhaled pizza. I thought it was the best pizza ever because I was starving! The next morning we woke up and headed over to the Duomo area. We went inside the cathedral which was beautiful and even climbed to the top of it. The view was very cool and we got some bomb ...

Jamie Visits Edinburgh

Just a few days after we returned from Copenhagen, Jamie came to visit me! I was so excited for her to come and stay with me for the whole week of thanksgiving! Poor thing though, her flight got delayed so she didn’t get to me until Saturday afternoon instead of Saturday morning. I went to pick her up at the airport and of course they lost her bag. She was a bit of a mess but I helped her pull it together… you know after she cried for a while <3   That night we brought her out to Finnegans Wake (aka the best bar/our favorite bar in Edinburgh). She was quite a trooper being so tired but still coming out!! She got to have quite a ~real~ experience, as we were bringing her along with us to do everything that we usually do anyway. The next day we went to the Christmas market.   On Monday she got to come to class with me (lucky) and then we went to ASDA, which is basically Scottish Walmart. We were prepping to have a full thanksgiving dinner on Tuesday night so we ...

Copenhagen

Anna and I spent the weekend of November 14-17 in Copenhagen. I had always wanted to visit there, and so had she so we were very excited!! We got there really late at night on Thursday and had to go find the hostel, which was quite an adventure. We wound up taking trains and walking there and it was very confusing and stressful. We got to the hostel, which was very nice, and we only had 1 roommate that first night who seemed very odd but quiet so she worked for me! The next morning we woke up and had all sorts of plans on what we should do for the day, but we decided to go shopping instead. There were so many stores!! We walked by a shoe store and I was obsessed with some of the boots in there. We’ll get back to that. There was a lego store which of course was a thrill for me and we spent around an hour in there because I was enjoying myself so much. Apparently lego was created in Denmark so not only was it exciting to go to a lego store in general, it was extra exciting bec...
